After two or three CSE which I raised in the past, only CDD was responding that the security and background checks are still running. But after two month, this time I got a strange response even not from CDD but from BWJ who is another agent or officer . It was mentioned that " at this time your application continues to be reviewed". It is really strange answer which disguise the main intention of the writer whether checks are completed or still running. Note that I have a second line at 28th January 2014 and I sent the requested document update at 5th March. Appreciate of your help and advice.

Ya its pretty standard response. I used to get that sort of response all the time. even 4 days before they sent me medicals the response was that your application is waiting review. what it means is that they work on BF'Ds which is bring forward dates set into the computer application/system they use which reminds officer to take certain actions on the set date though officer can do that early as well if some awaited report from any agency/officer or update from applicant is received before BF'D.

please note that your file is undergoing its mandatory background checks, please be advised that this can be lengthy process, we will be in contact when there have been further developments with the processing of the file.
Background checks are a mandatory part of the application process and can not be expedited.

which type of background checks these are? is it security checks?
they had asked for add documents( forms,pcc,pof) on 11th july , so these checks started after that?
how long will it take?

Before this in august they said, your file is under review, we will contact you in due course.

Background checks take around 2 - 3 months. They start them after updated PCC submitted. Yes these are security checks.
Medicals will be requested after this. If your medicals were already requested with updated docs, you will get PPR-1.

you should get a response in 3 months from the date you submitted updated PCC.

Don't worry , quite normal. In our case as well background checks took a long time, particularly if you travel a lot.

Does anybody know how many (number or %) of London VO applicants were asked to show up for an interview and how many of them had their employment details cross checked by visiting their office?

I think if VO personally shows up at someone's office to cross check employment details, then it'd be embarrassing! People in the office may feel like it's a criminal investigation going on!
