HI,

I am currently working as a full time permanent worker under my one year work open permit after one year course. I am planning to apply for LMO.

Do i need to show "advertisement effort" from my employer as I am already working for them since last 8 months. Or is this for the employees who are going/planning to hire Temporary Foreign Workers ?

How can my employer put an advertisement for a post which is already filled up. I am referring to these two news.

"Elimination of the Recruitment and Advertisement Exemption for employers hiring international students graduating from recognized Canadian post-secondary institutions"

Breaking News: Overhaul of Temporary Foreign Worker Program

Thanks for your help in advance.

To apply for an LMO, your employer will indeed have to advertise and prove that no Canadians were available for the job. It may sound strange, but the fact that you're already doing the job doesn't matter - an LMO will only be granted if no Canadians can be found. This is because the government wants to ensure that Canadians are given priority in hiring decisions.

The "Elimination of the Recruitment and Advertisement Exemption for employers hiring international students graduating from recognized Canadian post-secondary institutions" means that until June 5, employers didn't have to advertise when applying to hire someone whose PGWP was expiring; but as of June 5, they do.
