Lmia question while on Iec visa question please help?

Hey so I have received a positive lmia from my company I am waiting for my work permit to come through for that lmia. The question is my iec expires next week, can I keep working on an implied Status since I have a name lmia and awaiting work permit for that. I rang CIC they said yes, my company says Yes, what do you guys think?

There is no implied status with IECs. You'll need to stop working when it expires and you'll be able to start again once you have the new approved work permit. Unfortunately the CIC help line is only good for basic questions - and this isn't one of them. They get this one wrong all the time.

But my company and ther lawyers are sure I can? How long does it take for the lmia work permit to be approved?

Or you could just take a day this week to drive down to the Canada-US border, flagpole and get your work permit right away.

But my work permit that I apllied for online with the lmia has not been approved yet? And I am told it can take 6-8 weeks to do so? At the moment I am on Iec, it expires next week. I have a name lmia and work permit application sent in. So that's why I wanted to inquire can I go on implied ?

IECs do not benefit from Implied Status. The safest thing to do and quickest way to get your work permit is to flagpole.

You can still flagpole at the border even though you submitted an app. I believe you have to pay the fee again and then request a refund for the submitted application.
