Hello,
I have been working in Canada under Open work permit for around 1 year and 6 months and my job description is an architectural technologist.
I have a permanent full-time job ( no end date in my contract) and my employer gave me a letter of job offer including all information.
I am wondering can I use the job offer and get 50 points of LMIA using LMIA exempt job offer or not.
My open work permit will be expired in August and I will renew it again till August 2021 as my wife is a Ph.D. student in Canada.
What do you think about renewing my work permit as an open work permit again or can I ask my company to get an LMIA work permit for me.
I need to find a way to use that 50 points of LMIA ASAP
Your help would be greatly appreciated

No - you cannot use this job offer to get 50 points. Your employer needs to get an approved LMIA in order for you to qualify for the 50 points.

Could my employer get an LMIA right now while I am working in Canada under an open work permit or should I ask him to renew my open work permit with a new LMIA work permit?
Thank you for your prompt response

He can apply for an LMIA while you are under an open work permit. Note that this is generally a 4-6 month process for the employer. He will need to start by advertising the job for at least a month to prove no Canadian could be found for the role. Make sure he follows the LMIA advertising requirements since this is mandatory for the LMIA to be approved.
