LMIA approved but not started working

Hi
I have my CWP approved and got 2yrs valid permit.
I came Canada but not working with the employer who gave me LMIA. It’s been like 6 months…. will this be an issue if I didn’t work with that employer and look for a new one in the mean while.?

No issue. You cannot work without a new LMIA and closed work permit.

Yes this could be an issue. The fact that you came to Canada to work for an employer and never worked means you misrepresented your intentions. After 6 months there may be concerns that you were working unless you can show you only used your savings.

Throught about this again and you should be out of status since you didn’t meet the terms of your CWP. If your spouse got an OWP and is working that also could be a big issue since they were only able to get their OWP based on your CWP and the fact that you would be working in Canada. Would be speaking to a lawyer.
