Hi!
I need help and answers to my questions. I'm already here in Canada, holding a multiple-entry visit visa. Also, I already have an employer here who will give me an LMIA. She started it and is processing it now; however, my concern is I only finished high School outside Canada, and I know it isn't equivalent to a Canadian 1-year post-secondary. For now, they just asked for my diploma copy and proof of working experience as a caregiver. Do you think I can pass the requirements with just a high school diploma and also give me a chance to apply for PR here in the future? Your answers will be so much appreciated. Thank you!

Is this for a personal support worker or child care worker? Is the employer in Quebec? What province?Check the NOC and education requirements. It can be an issue if you don’t meet education requirements.

Hi, this is for child care and my employer is here in Ontario.

Hi, this is for child care and my employer is here in Ontario.
So you are not eligible and your work permit will be refused. IRCC changed the rules a few years ago and all child care givers must go through the HCCP program unless your employer works in Quebec. To be eligible you must have an ECA with at least one year of post secondary and take IELTS too. So you are not even eligible for the HCCP program. Also tell your prospective employer if they want to hire through the HCCP program that processing is almost 3 years.

Hiring a caregiver from overseas
All employers (outside Quebec) who want to hire an in-home caregiver from overseas must hire them through these 2 pilots.

If you submitted a Labour Market Impact Assessment application through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program to hire a caregiver who is outside Canada on or after June 18, 2019, their work permit application won’t be processed.

Note: You are considered outside Canada because you don’t have a work permit and are a visitor.

Caregiver Job Offer for you!!!!!

Hi all

I have a child below 18 years and I need caregiver. My mother is living with me but I do not want to hire her as caregiver (even though IRCC mentions one can hire relatives) because I do not want to risk my mother's PR application through caregiver pathway.

I am looking for a family who has a child below 18 years of age and needs caregiver. We can sponsor each other's relatives so that there is no risk in final PR application for the relative.

Interested families please reach out. Thanks

That's sad! Do you think is there another way I can do it or another way to pass the working permit or PR requirements?

For caregiver positions you must go through HCCP program, and meet its requirements (eg one year post secondary ECA). For child caregivers, the only way is to find an employer in Quebec with a LMIA. Then you would want French and English, just in caseBeing a Personal Support Worker is an option but you don’t have the education or experience . If you don’t have post secondary, your chances of PR are very slim. You might be able to find a LMIA in fast food, agricultural labour jobs but still need to show experience.

What country are you from? Age?

PR will be very difficult without higher education. Consider completing either a bachelor's degree or a diploma first and then securing a work permit in Canada. You can complete this education in your home country or also consider completing this education in Canada on a study permit, if you have the funds.

Thank you guys! I appreciate your feedback. Maybe for now, I will try to complete a higher education. I just have one more question. I have 5 yrs multiple entry visa, should I need to exit Canada every 6 months? or I can stay for a year or until my visa expires?

You are only authorized to stay six months (unless CBSA stamped an earlier date in your passport, in which case the earlier date applies). You need to apply to extend your stay if you want to remain in Canada beyond the six months. Note that you can only study very short term in Canada on a TRV. The total duration of the program must be six months or less. If the program is 6 months or more, it is mandatory to get a study permit. Also note that the longer you stay in Canada as a visitor, the harder it can be to get a work permit or study permit approved.
