Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hello

Will 1st stay & look for jobs. Planning to do any job at minimum wage of Alberta @ $13.60/hour.
Now I want to know what will the expenses needed for a single person in Calgary.

1.Plus can someone tell what will the net annual salary after tax on a 20 hour & 40 hour contract ?
2.How many hours do I need to work on minimum wage so that I can break even ? (Incase I dont get a fulltime job)

All basic expenses that come to my mind are & just to give an idea- ( Per Month)
1.Rent for single person. (Not looking for sharing flat etc)
2.Electricity & heating.
3.Food (will cook at home & buy food at workplace if needed)
4.Internet at home (for browsing jobs & youtube etc)
5.Mobile (Calls & data - especially to find jobs & find places on google maps)
6.Public Transport (look for jobs & travel to & from workplace)
7.Any tax like water, flat tax etc (Something similar to Council tax in UK)

I think 2000 CAD per month will be expenses.

800-1000 for rent for 1 bed flat
150 for hydro
500 for groceries
100 for Ctransit monthly pass
115 for mobile http://www.telus.com/en/ab/mobility/plans/#byod
55 for home broadband https://www.shaw.ca/internet/plans/

-----------------------------
Total 1700 - 1900

Minimum wage $13.60 x 40hrs/week x 52 weeks = $28288
Take home salary = $23600 yearly ($1966 per month) http://neuvoo.ca/tax-calculator/?salary=28288&region=Alberta

Thanks for your response. Literally, before one gets a full-time job, the monthly minimum wages are equivalent to one's monthly expenditure, if I got it right. Wow! How soon can onr get a job?

What primary schools would be recommended and what are the cost implications?

1. Elementary schools are based on the catchment area where you live. For ratings see: http://alberta.compareschoolrankings.org/elementary/SchoolsByRankLocationName.aspx
2. Schooling from Elementary to High School is free, except for religious/private schools. There are fees for some supplies but they are minor.
