Hi! I'd like to ask if live-in caregivers are allowed to study and take NCLEX and IELTS while in Canada? It is indicated in my working permit that unless authorized, I am prohibited in attending any educational instituion, taking academic, professional, or vocational training course. Your replies would be of great help. Thank you!

Hi Gyanna! I am also wondering the same thing. Please msg me at clientelle09@gmail.com if you got more information. Thanks!

I am under LICP and now a permanent resident. When i was still under LICP i was planning to study but i found out that if i study i will be considered as international student thus paying a bit more higher fee than a resident and citizens. Also if the course you will be taking is more than 6 mos then you need to apply for a study permit. The customer service supervisor i previously talked to about this told me that i can get a distance education instead BUT same thing applies, if it is more than 6 mos and you will be required to go to the university even for just a day to take any exam or test, you still need a study permit. Courses less than 6 months does not need a study permit.

With the new Caregiver program applying for study permit might be easy as they require the applicant under the new program to have studied at least 1 year in Canada.

Please remember that IELTS have 2 years validity only.
