Live in caregiver program..does two year employment have to be consecutive?

Hello...as the title says...does the two years employment under the program have to be consecutive years? I know you have 3 years to get 2 years employment to qualify for PR. I went to a govt link where it seems to state that as long as the two years employment are within the 3 year timephrame you are ok. I just want some clarification.

No it does not have to be consecutive but you must finish the 24 months in three years.

Applying for permanent residence in Canada

You must complete at least two years of employment as a live-in caregiver to apply for permanent residence in Canada. You must have completed these two years of employment within three years of your arrival in Canada. The two-year requirement does not include any extended time away from Canada. For example, if you go away on vacation for three months, that time will not be included as part of the two years of employment. In some countries, you may need to reapply for a temporary visitor visa before you return to Canada. If you leave Canada for more than one year or if your work permit has expired, you will have to reapply to the overseas visa office to return to Canada under the Live-in Caregiver Program. You are free to leave the program and return permanently to your home country at any time. However, you should give adequate notice to your employer.

Thanks Job_Seeker I appreciate your response. Now if said caregiver decides to quit one job...take some time off and find another job can she do this and not lose her visa? I assume she can as long as it is under the parameters or the caregiver program?

The caregiver can look for another employer within the validity of the visa/work permit. But without a job it is not advisable for the caregiver to leave Canada, else she may have re-entry problems.
