Hi, Guys, I have a question~ please share your precious knowledge. I tried to find at CIC web, but I couldn't.

My prospective LCG is now have a visitor permit since her study permit expired in last month and I'm ready to apply for LMO.

My question is that "Can she go to Canada - USA Border to get a Work Permit?" not apply for New York visa office by mail?

I know many of people go to border to get a work permit (especially someone who has the visitor status) legally, and they are all OK to get a work permit. However, is if applicable for care giver work permit as well??

One lawyer says you have to apply for New York visa office by mail and another lawyer say she can go to border.........

Is it OK for her to go to Border to get a INITIAL LIVE-IN CARE-GIVER Work Permit? any experience, please....?

No - she can't. LCPs must mail in their applications. Going to the border isn't an option.

Yes - this is an option for other types of work permit - but not LCPs.

Hi, Scylla. Thanks for your quick and professional answer!!! I really appreciate that!

Can I just tell her that what you said as it is? or is there any specific regulation regarding this matter in CIC website?

Thanks you Thank you

There is a place this can be confirmed on the CIC web site. But I'm having trouble finding it and am traveling right now. I'll try to find it tomorrow / later this week.

There are a number of verifications that need to take place as part of the LCP application (including if the applicant meets the education and/or work experience requirements). These checks simply cannot be performed at the border and this is why this isn't an option for applying.
