live-in caregiver contract, backing out?

My fiancee signed a contract with her current employer until next year. She is getting her open permit in august and wants to quit. They are now saying that she signed a contract and she has to complete that. Is is possible when she gets her open permit to back out of that contract, is that then invalid?

The open work permit will still be valid - even if she backs out of the contract.

I suppose it's possible her employer may be able to go after her for Financial penalties depending on the nature of the terms of the contract she signed.

I was just reading the contract and it says that all she has to do is give 2 weeks notice to terminate that. I guess we have nothing to worry about.
