So i already sent all my documents two weeks ago to the embassy for my work permit as a live in caregiver. I understand you need to wait for the embassy to contact you to give you instructions about medical examinations and an interview... but i have some questions about these steps...

how does the embassy contact you on the first place?! do they call or send an email.. ??? what should i be waiting for?

after you go and get the medical examination, how long does it take until you finally get your passport/visa back???

do you necessarily need to do an interview?? before or after the medical examination??

how long is the whole process from when you submit your application until you finally leave?!??

I'D BE VERY GRATEFUL IF SOMEONE COULD HELP ME FIGURE THIS OUT!!

Hi there,

I have the same case as yours, I am bout to submit my application in New york for lie in caregiver in canada. How did you send your application? by mail or online? Thanks in advance!

i sent it by current mail.. i tried doing it online but everytime i tried to pay it wouldnt go through so i got tired of trying and just mailed the whole thing. now its almost 3 weeks and im waiting for them to contact me.. im getting desperate cuz its been 4 months already since i found a family and im still home :/

Hi again,

I tried applying online but it says their website is under construction so I can't find ang helpful information from them. By the way, which bank did you use for paying the fee? Did you use credit card or something?

Thanks!

well, i used scotiabank but im not sure if its the same for each country.. where are you applying from?? i also applied through the Visa Application Centre because apparently is faster to do it through them than going to the embassy directly..

I am applying here in canadian consulate new york. And you?

Mexico haha... but if you go to the CIC page it gives you the exact info about payments in each country.... ugh i seriously need to know whats going on cuz its been a month already and still no news from them :/

Does any one know if its ok to take toefl test instead of ielts test

In my case, i apply for live in caregiver and i don't need toefl or ielts anymore.

How did you sen your application? By mail or online? How much did you pay? I am going to submit my application but I am not sure how. Please advise me. Thanks!

okay, i didnt need an english test either..
make sure you dont forget ANYTHING... and that ur proof of experience as a caregiver is STRONG.. i just got my WP denied cuz i didnt have strong proof of experience as a nanny.. im reapplying but it's been a waste of money and time.. so dont let any loose ends so the Visa Officer doesnt get reasons to deny your work permit.

Hi! Is there anybody here in the forum who can help me with my problem? I came here in canada as non-skilled worker (food attendant) and now i am planning to move to the live-in caregiver program because i am eligible to apply. I have all my credentials with me like working in a nursing home for 2 years and having a bachelor of science in nursing in my country. I have already an employer with contract and LMO. I applied for work permit inside canada and i already received my work permit today. However, my friend told me that I sis the wrong way of applying my work permit. I should have applied outside canada like NY. Can anyone has an idea about my case? Thank you so much!! Hope to hear from you guys soon!
