Hello! I am returning to Canada after several years of living outside the country. My residency obligations have definitely not been met and I have 2 months left before my card expires.
I am aware that there is a risk that I might be reported and be forced to renounce, but this post is about the list of things I need to urgently get done IF I am allowed through with no issues.
What should I get done before my card expires? (For eg. Driver's license, SIM card, bank account, apartment rental etc.) I already have a SIN number. Will any of these NOT require an unexpired card?

It depends, in part, on which province you will be moving to and what the requirements are concerning a valid PR Card. Some may want to see more than 2 months left, while others may not.

As you must know, PR status does not expire, but can be lost, so there really is no `requirement' for a PR to have a valid PR Card (except for the requirement if traveling back to Canada via a commercial carrier). A landlord, for example, would not need to see a valid PR card. Your [new] bank, likely does.

Driver's license: ask your province.
Sim card: probably not an issue. Ask the telco.
Bank account: ask your bankj.

Most of these things are not an issue. You probably do have to ask your province but be honest about moving back. They'll jsut want to see proof of address (usually).

Thank you for your replies! If someone here has recently been in this exact situation, please post how it went and if it's doable. i.e. living for two years on an expired PR card without running into issues.

Suggest you get everything you can before your PR Card expires; wait until you have met the R.O. to apply for a renewed card and renew again when it's time.

There is no requirement for a PR to hold a valid card in Canada, so if you already obtain the things that most people need to live in Canada before your card expires, you should be fine.

Hoping to find others in your `exact situation' is a crap shoot, but...you may get lucky.
