Recently I have received Express Entry approval with visa and COPR
. Before I make my first landing in Canada, I'm trying to prepare in the best possible way. Here I'll list down a few things that I've planned so far. I'm hoping that this incredibly helpful forum members will provide some feedback/opinion on my plans.
1. First landing: I'm thinking about the weather before deciding to land in Canada as I've never really experienced sub-zero temperature. As much as I want to be there in January, I don't know if it will be a good idea to jump into the Canadian snow during the coldest month of the year! However, I won't wait more than until March as I need to apply for SIN and PR card asap.
I'm thinking of coming back to my home country after staying in Canada for about 2 weeks to get the necessary paper works done and applications dispatched, before returning to Canada permanently after 3 months.
2. Job application: I have 6 years of work experience as credit analyst and loan officer in a South Asian bank. I'm trying to figure out how much that experience will count for, as I'm not used to the Canadian credit rules and guidelines or credit risk management techniques.
I also have good experience in digital marketing including some related certifications. So far I'm counting more on this experience since the role of a digital marketer doesn't seem to vary much in this part of the world. However, I'm yet to apply for any job since I don't have SIN. Right now I'm focusing on having a comprehensive understanding of the job market and requirements etc.
Meanwhile, I've registered for 3 different pre-arrival service centers that are listed in CIC website. I didn't find any specific guidelines on how many of these centers I may use; so I signed up for three, just to get in touch with more people who may advise me on job hunt process.
3. Backup plan: I'm hoping to secure a job within 3-6 months of my first landing. However, if things do not go according to plan, I'm considering getting enrolled into a Master's degree program. I already have an MBA from a mid-tier US university; so getting a second master's degree is not something I'm excited about. I don't have the money to afford tuition fees either. Nevertheless, desperate situation calls for desperate measures! I believe I'll be eligible to receive student loan from Canadian government if I can't arrange any scholarships.
Thank you in advance for your time!
