Hello Everyone,
I'm new on this forum and I would like to seek everyone's opinion on my case. I'm currently working and living in Alberta, Canada and applied for Permanent Residency through AINP. Please see timelines below.
Just a few days ago I received a letter from CIC Buffalo stating that they have completed the initial assessment of our application and expect to finalize it without a personal interview. However, Buffalo has requested letters of "No Record" or Certificates of "Good Conduct" from the countries I used to work such as Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam and I was only given 90 days to submit those. The problem is I don't have contacts with those companies that I used to work and some of them have closed their operations.
I emailed the consulate of those countries yesterday and hoping to receive reply sometime this week.

Has anyone on this forum who is in the same situation as myself?
Please I need your opinion and input on my case. Thanks

Hi,

The Letter of No Record or Certificates of Good Conduct that are being required are not from your previous employers but from the police. These are actually police clearance. You may check the CIC website on how you can get police clearance from these countries. I doubt if you can comply with the 90-day deadline. You may write a letter of request for waiver stating the reasons why you cannot comply.

BZ Mom, Thanks for the reply. I understood that the required documents are not from the previous employer but from the police. But if I have contact with those companies I could probably ask the human resources a favor to get a police clearance in my behalf.

Appreciate your suggestion to write a letter of waiver stating the reason. I wonder if you did this waiver route and what Buffalo had to say about it.

Is there anyone else here who used this waiver route, could you please share what Buffalo had to say. Thanks

A friend of mine was asked to submit a Certificate of Good Conduct from Saudi Arabia. Turns out the Saudi Consulate in Ottawa takes 6-8 months to process and send that certificate. He informed Buffalo via email and got a response a month later waiving the required certificate.

If you can explain (and it back up) as to why you can't comply with the request within the 90 days, which I'm sure you can considering they're asking for three different countries and the consulates might take a while.

Either way, if you can explain within reason, Buffalo tends to waive requirements like that.

Thanks Winnipegmb for sharing what your friend went through in trying to get the certificate of good conduct. I've been searching the internet for a fast possible way to meet the 90 day deadline but I couldn't find. I guess I have to wait the reply from those three consulates and see what they have to say.

Anymore input regarding this issue is appreciated. Thanks

I also requested for a waiver of police clearance from Saudi Arabia for my husband and my request was also granted. You just need to justify your request.

Thanks BZ Mom.
I have contacted the consulate of those countries and it's next to impossible to get the Police Clearance. I was told to go there personally to have it done. Furthermore, I returned the work permit and other docs to my previous employers prior to leaving the country which are prerequisite in applying for PCC.
Did you send your waiver request through email or surface mail?

Hi,

I sent it through mail together with the other additional documents that were requested from me by the CIC.

Thank God for He answered my prayer! The immigration officer finally waived the three police certificates. Thanks for sharing all your experiences in dealing with the police clearance issue. God bless you all.

Told them that I returned the work permit back to my previous employers which was mandatory prior to leaving the country. And that there's no way I can get the PCC because I don't have the work permit which is a pre-requisite.
