Hi,

I'm just about ready to send in my application for PR (finally! :D), with my common-law partner sponsoring me.
I have seen people in some places saying that there should be letters from my partner and I, just kind of describing the relationship, how important it is to each of us, etc.?

Is this actually a requirement? Info has been hard to come by.

Thanks!

yes it is critical that both sponsor and applicant (both spouses) write a letter describing your relationship and proving that it is genuine, referring to evidence throughout your letter (such as photos from outings together and home photos, airline tickets, joint bank account statements, joint rental agreements). Since you are common-law and not married, it is even more important to prove that you have been living together and state all the periods of living together in your letters.
good luck and hope this helps! :)
