Letter of invitation required for extension of work permit with same employer

I want to apply for an extension of work permit under my current employer. When I tried to apply the list of documents to be uploaded mentions that it needs a letter of invitation from my host (which I presume to be my employer).
And the information needed to be included in this letter seems a little strange. For e.g., my host needs to provide their personal details like birth certificate, family details, etc., which seemed out of place. Has anyone faced the same issues. What did you do?

Oh my you probably have chosen the wrong program, applying for extension does not need an invitation letter from host- looks like you did choose the Visit visa extension instead of Work Permit extension.

I did apply to the right program.
I asked someone who applied a few years back. It seems the info they provided in that page is irrelevant for work permit extension (IRCC has a habit of pooling info for different programs together). But we do need a letter of invitation from our employer stating basics like duration of work etc. (similar to a job offer letter).

Then it should not be an invitation letter but a new job offer of employment that you need to provide, weird that why it is termed as invitation.
