Is the letter of introduction to get a work permit at the port of entry in Canada only applicable for the COVID-19 period? I know that it was required as proof to show to the airline before you can board.

Given that international borders are opening up in Canada in September, can one fly to the port of entry on a commercial airline and apply for a work permit at the POE without an introduction letter (assuming they have all the docs.)? For context I have positive LMIA and hold a Singapore passport.

the letter of introduction isn't a new thing- back in 2008 and 2018 when i got work permits at POE I was required to have an introduction letter from my company

Thanks for your response! https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...s/work-canada/permit/temporary/apply/poe.html I'm reading on their website and it states nothing about a letter of introduction, and I've read many posts online not mentioning a letter of introduction as well. This makes me inclined to believe the LOI is not necessary and I just apply for a work permit at POE with all my documents... hoping to confirm this.

the letter of introduction in conjunction with your resume acts as proof that you meet the qualifications - i'v seen people turned away at poe at land and airport for not having one. Just treat the letter of introduction as being like a cover letter- a CBSA agent will scan through it and it saves you a ton of questions, Ultimately it's your call- you know yourself that you are more than qualified.
