Letter from my sponsor

Dear friends, I am planning to apply for my study permit next month in Helsinki. I have two questions, 1. I am going to Canada with my husband, I was wondering if he has to apply at the same time with me (in my application) or he needs to submit his own application? is it better to do it at the same time or no.
2. We are going to live with my uncle in Toronto. He wants to be my sponsor there, so do I need to get a official letter from him which mentioned that he wants to support me financially and provide us a place of residence? (I have 20,000 CAD in my bank account for the first year right now)

FYI - even if you are going to be living with your uncle, you must still show that you have enough funds to cover living expenses. Since your husband is coming with you, you will need to show a bank balance that has enough money to cover first year tuition + an additional $15,000 in living expenses. If your uncle is going to be sponsoring you and covering your living expenses, then he will need to provide a bank account statement that shows at least $15,000 in savings and also provide a letter stating he will be your sponsor and will be covering your living expenses. Note that we tend to see lower approval rates with situations such as this. It would be better if you can show that you have all of the funds yourself.
