Hi,

Buffalo is processing our application for Family class sponsorship. If we need to move out of the US, to another country, will Buffalo continue to process our application or will it forward our application to the Canadian consulate responsible for the country that we move to?

Buffalo already started processing the application, and we got AOR from them. If they transfer our file to another Canadian consulate, we will end out losing more time.

We prefer that Buffalo continues working on the application.

Does anyone know what is the policy regarding this? Can Buffalo transfer the file to another consulate since we moved out of the US?

I know that Buffalo is overloaded with applications, and they might want to reduce their workload and transfer any applications they can.

Also, should we tell Buffalo that we moved out of the US, or just do a change of address to a local address of a friend in the US?

Thanks.

I also heard about cases when some people got their PPR f rom Buffalo while they were back in India, and they find a way to send their passports from India to Buffalo for visa stamping.

But I am not sure if it is common for the consulate in Buffalo to continue working on applications if the applicants moved out of the US.

Anyone with info on this?

It states on the cic website that if you move your application will continue to be processed at your original visa office, unless you request otherwise. You would have to return if you need an interview, and would also have to fed/ex your passport to buffalo when they request it.

Great. Thanks for the info.

If you have a link or know who to find this on the CIC website, please let me know.

Make sure if you keep processing at Buffalo that you will be able to get a visa to enter the USA if an interview is called (supposing you are from a country that needs a visa).

Good point. I think that chances for an interview is small, since the marriage evidence is very strong, and it is very unlikely that the IO will make to interview us just to make sure that the marriage is real.
