length of process

Strange question, but how long can we make the process drag on?
Assume I get language tests etc done, then apply via EE, then, say, 10 months later, get the go ahead to complete the process.
I know that you can choose to land up to 12 months after the medical certificate date. Are there any other points of the process where we can slow things down a little?
