Left Canada while waiting for visa extension. Can re-enter Canada?

Hi all

I am currently sponsoring my wife to be permanent resident. Cic has received our application but has not yet start processing. Her visitor visa expires on November 30th. I have apply visa extension on November 1st. But due to medical problems we had to go back to Taiwan. As she doesn’t have health insurance in Canada. We will go back to Canada in two weeks but I am not sure if she can enter Canada. Taiwan is one of the visa waiver country.

I was told be cic facebook that either wait for visa extension to be approved or get a new visa.

This is her second visa extension.

She needs a valid ETA to return to Canada.

The visa extension is useless. It's only good as long as she remains in Canada.
