Lecturer planning to start career as a mechanical engineer help plz!!

hi,
My husband is a mechanical engineer, who had been working as an assistant professor in a private engineering college for 4 years now.
We are half way through our PR processing and I would like to know what are his chances of starting off a new career as an entry-level mechanical design engineer in Canada???

Does he stand a chance?
Or should he be looking for lecturer jobs only?
But can he get into technical institutes?
Will they take in Asians???

First thing you need to lookat is getting licensed as an engineer.

You will have to look at each province. Also would ask other foreign trained engineers whether it was an issue with employers.

I would imagine you would have to be licensed to teach an engineering course. Not sure about other courses.

US/Canadian Universities prefer people with Post-docs or PhD's for faculty positions because many of them are actively involved in research and would like someone who has demonstrated they can do research. There is no dearth of people migrating to Canada who have PhD from other places.

Regarding community colleges, one can try but again there would be a lot of competition as people who can't get a faculty position at University level would try for community colleges. Your husband should have excellent credentials and communication skills to apply for teaching positions in Canada.

I am not sure about licensing for teaching positions.

I'm a mechanical engineer myself and I can advise your husband to get his licensing done from whichever province you are intending to settle down in. It will make it easier to get a job in his field.

I too am working as an assistant professor in Pvt college. Don't we need to have work experience in the mechanical field before applying for licensing?
