Hello everyone,

I will try to remain brief with my post......My ex-wife and my daugther filed for PR to Canada. They are in their final stages (Medicals are completed). I was devastated because this is my only child but I do understand her mother trying to do the best for her since I am unable to help raise her financially. We have a wonderful relationship but me being in the US illegally took a burden on us (My ex-wife has status in the US and applied to Canada before it expired). Even if she files for me, I would have to go back to my home country in the Caribbean. I have been in the US over 15 years. Should I be worried? Did anyone out there took a chance, packed up and file for spousal sponsorship after being away from their home country for so long? As the time gets closer we are worried how this would affect our daughter esp with my ex-wife's long hours on the job and no relatives in Canada.

Any suggestion would be helpful ....

first you need to change your status to legal one in the US, without that you will no be able to do anything.

I believe if you were to immigrate to Canada and file outland, they would have to process it through your home country since you have no status in the US.

You should note the OP states "ex-wife" so unless they remarry, they is no way she can sponsor him.
