Leaving Canada For the Time Being On a Student Visa

Hi all,

Now that all my classes are online my school school is telling most of students to leave, I'm thinking of going back to my home country. However, I'm on a one year Master's program and trying to figure out how it would impact my visa status for the post graduation work permit.

I saw that people who are on a student visa are allowed to come back even during the shutdown, but I also want to make sure that I can continue to stay in Canada after I finish the program. Even if I continue my classes outside Canada for a short period, can I switch to a work visa upon the completion of my program? I want to make sure it wouldn't affect my prospects of staying in Canada after I graduate.

You are a foreign national and will not be allowed to return to Canada while the travel ban is in effect, which is now until June 30th.

Where have you seen people with student visa being allowed to come back during travel ban?
