I am a PR sponsoring my husband. I left Canada for a 19 days vacation trip after AOR2 stage. While I was travelling back to Canada, my husband's status in mycic has been updated (Background Check change to In Progress). On the day that I landed, my husband got PPR and he will submit his passport tomorrow.

So I guess, it is ok as long as it is only vacation. I still have my job, place that I am renting, Rogers subscription, and other monthly payables.

Person must reside in Canada which means you can stay in canada for 6-7 months, , pay taxes have your credit card charged for expenses, do things a canadian resident will do and still you can travel outside canada for 3-5 months.

3-5 months during a pr sponsorship wont be a problem at all. At least in my opinion.

If a 20 days vacation is ok then a 5 month vacation is ok too its just a matter of long and short after all in both cases the sponsor left canada.

It really depends on the CBSA / IRCC to decide what is acceptable "vacation" time. Most people have 3 weeks vacation per year. So going beyond 3 weeks is risking yourself to be considered no longer residing in Canada for a PR sponsoring a spouse. Staying outside Canada for 5 months will definitely raise some eyes at IRCC / CBSA since they would have access to files online. We are not going to stop anyone from taking a 5 month "vacation" time but accept that a risk is there and take your chances.

Who goes on vacation for 5 months? How can you prove that it was just a vacation?

It is NOT only a matter of leaving Canada. It is a matter of PR sponsor residing in Canada while sponsorship is on going.

I agree!

Hello,

A question is can I leave Canada (I am permanent resident) during spousal sponsorship application. I want visit my wife for a month while they are reviewing our application. Somewhere on the internet I read that the application would be denied in case the permanent resident leaves Canada. Is it really true?
Thanks

Hi!
Please let me know do you end up leaving canada? If yes how was it? Does it cause any problem? Thanks a lot!
