Hi,

I will be in Canada on a working holiday 2 year visa from March 2013. At this stage, that is about the rough time the Family Class visa is due as well for me, however I am not 100% of course. I will be landing in Canada at the beginning of March no matter what. My question is, if I was to land on the working holiday, when the Family Class is issued, am I able to DRIVE across the border from say Surrey in BC into Washington and re-enter at the same port - are they able to process the family visa application at a road port of entry?

Thanks!

Yes, that's fine. That's what we plan on doing.

a lot of people do that, and if it's not a busy day it takes about 10 to 15 min at the border to complete landing formalities, so by far the easiest ! you don't even have to enter the US ( I assume you're Australian or Kiwi so visa-exempt, but just in case) : you an exit Canada, tell them you want to land and they will redirect you back to Canada, with a stop at the border office. If not - well you can always take advantage of the trip to visit "the other side"...
Good luck - hope the PR comes through, but Sydney is one of the fastest offices, so you're in good hands!
