Leaving Canada after expiry of work permit

I made a stupid mistake when I booked my return ticket home months ago. My work permit expires in 5 weeks, I booked my return ticket two days after WP expiry. changing the flight is costly. What options do I have?

I have another job here after a few months, will be home applying for a new work visa next fall, so want to do everything by the book. Thanks!

Option for what? If applying for a new work visa while outside Canada then you wait for approval.

Change your status to visitor before your WP expires so you maintain legal status for the 2 days.
