Leaving and then returning Canada after PR application submitted

Hello all,

I am currently on a 2 year working holiday visa (IEC) that expires at the end of November 2018. I submitted my permanent residency application (express entry) in August and I am aware it can take up to 6 months for a decision.

I am due to fly to England in November and I am unsure how it works when I return to Canada as I will only have a couple of days left on my current IEC visa.
Do I have implied status now I have a pending PR application? Will I have issues because I only have 2 days left on my visa? Even though I have a PR application currently being processed?

My plan would be to immediately apply for a bridging open work permit upon returning, in the couple of days prior to my current visa expiring. The reason I haven't done this already is that I have read that I cannot leave Canada while on a bridging open work permit.

I am really confused by this (probably clear in my ramblings above...) and cannot find any clear answers anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
