Hello!

I have a quick question. I have submitted my inland spousal sponsorship back in March (received by the offices on the 9th). To this day processing hasn’t started yet, and when talking to the IRCC agent I was told my application as of now only has a temporary file number. That said is it risky to leave Canada for let’s say 2/3 weeks since the application is not even in process yet? I would have to leave for medical reasons ( I am still waiting for my work permit but I don’t see that coming anytime soon) and without that I can’t get any health coverage and need to have some important exams done soon.

thanks for the help!

You should be okay to leave for 2-3 weeks outside Canada. Going beyond that, you will have to decide if it is worth the risk along with the risk of being denied re-entry due to unforeseen circumstances (changes to covid pandemic travel rules for example)

Makes sense. If I leave it wouldn’t be more than that and it would be with my husband who is the one sponsoring me (he is a Canadian citizen). So hopefully that would help with re-entering? The border officers were really nice last time we came
back.
I really don’t want to risk all of it after waiting this much but staying in a country without health coverage for so long is not the best deal either.
Thanks so much for the reply!
