Wondering if someone can shed any light on this situation for me. A family member died last week, but has a live in caregiver coming from the Philippines. She has family in Canada already who suggests our family goes ahead with letting her come, but I have concerns if our family doesn't inform immigration that the employer has passed away and she is no longer required in that role.

Has anyone ever encountered this situation?

The answer is obvious, you must inform the powers that be that this person is no longer required for service.

By allowing this person into the country but not by your employ is fraud, plain and simple.

This would be misrepresentation and could result in a two year ban from Canada. Don't even think about it....
