Hi all
We are visiting Canada this month and we will be staying in Vancouver. I have booked our flights with Qatar airways through Montreal where our layover is around 16hrs. So I have booked a hotel near the airport where we can spend the night before taking our Air Canada flight to Vancouver. The whole journey is booked through one ticket and Qatar and Air canada are codeshare partners. So my questions are:

- will we be allowed to go to immigration desk at Montreal to enter Canada?
- will we have to collect our checked luggage at Montreal and recheckin the next day?
- if we go to immigration and enter Canada through Montreal then when will our checked luggage go through customs?

My concern is that I don't want to carry my checked luggage to the hotel which can be bothersome but I am also confused since Montreal to Vancouver is a local flight then how will it work out. Sorry for such a lengthy question. Thanks

You can check that info with Qatar airways....if ur connected flight then u should get ur luggage in the final destination normally. But u can always ask ur questions to ur airway customers service they will give u a clear picture .

You will complete immigration and customs formalities with your luggage at Montreal given that will be your port of entry into Canada.

Cannot answer re the layover given on same ticket that seems unusually long so suggest you contact Qatar or Air Canada on the process for dropping off or not your luggage post customs for the connection. Also check at what point you get boarding passes for the domestic sector given you would of course need those to pass back through security if not checking in again for the domestic.

I think your luggage will be dropped on the first point of entry, i.e., Montreal anyway to clear customs so do not forget to collect your bags there.
