In 2019, we filed for refugee status in Quebec. Our hearing was scheduled for March 2020, but it was moved ahead due to Covid-19. We found out that a Minister was involved in our case while everything was going on. We had been waiting months for a response from our lawyer, and we finally received it yesterday. He stated that all English-speaking cases will be relocated to Toronto so that a virtual hearing can be held.

What will be the next step in the process? Has anyone else had a similar experience? How long do you think it'll take? Is Minister interference a sign that our case is about to get a lot more complicated?

These questions were not answered by the lawyer, i hope someone from here have answers.

minister interference is nothing to worry about... relax things will turn out to be in your favour

Wouldn’t say it is nothing to worry about. It is very dependent on the case. In some case it is nothing to worry about. Assume you will likely get an appointment for your virtual hearing soon,

in general receiving asylum from India or Pakistan can be quite difficult. Ministry is often involved if there are inconsistencies between what you said in your barious applications or applies to the 5 countries Canada shares immigration information with. Could be about how you entered Canad@. Your lawyer should have an idea what this about at some point.

Minister intervention means there is a lot to worry about especially if you are coming from countries with less approval rate. It is guaranteed Minister will read NOD if you get positive decision and will decide whether to appeal positive decision or not to. OP knows his situation and why minister intervened, and can ascertain magnitude of the problem. I wouldnt give such hope but OP needs good lawyer to respond and prepare. It will be long hearing session imo
