I am Indian currently residing in uk on a dependent spouse Visa. I did my whole PR process from UK.

Canada High Commission received my application in August 2011. I was single at that time.

On 1st August 2012 I received a letter from them demanding additional documents such as : New application form IMM0008/ background declaration form/ form IMM5406/medical examination and PR FEES

The problem is : in the mean time I got married in October 2011, but on the second stage i did not declare my change of circumstances. I am not too sure If I declared my marital status or not.

2 days ago, I received an email from them stating them that I have reached the final stage of process and I have to submit passport, so the PR visa can be issued. There is an Updated Information chart. If I declare my spouse now, will they not question me, that why I did not declare in 2nd stage.

I will be sponsoring her visa later right now she is not accompanying me but will join me later. What is the best way to come out of this situation and the best way to declare my change of circumstances?

As I read online, that if it is not declared before landing, my pr might be cancelled and she will never be able to migrate with me. I want to declare as we want to migrate to Canada. I am aware it will delay the pr process longer as she has to go through medical and criminal check, which is fine, but I did my medical in January 2012.
SO need to know WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO DECLARE CHANGE IN CIRCUMSTANCES.

Any Advice would be appreciated ...Thanks

You must add your wife to your application NOW (before you are issued the PR visa). Let the VO know you are married and submit all of the forms and evidence required to add your wife to your file. Failure to add your wife now will result in two consequences:

1) You will NEVER be able to sponsor your wife.
2) CIC may revoke your PR status for misrepresentation (landing as a single person when you are actually married)

It doesn't matter if you want your wife to accompany you to Canada now or not. You MUST add her to your application now. There is no other option.

Thanks for the reply.

I will add her now , but How to do that is my main concern? Should I just ass her information in the updated chart that I need to fill.

What is the best way to declare the change - I am by all means ready and want to add her.

Thanks

Post your question to the Skilled Worker section of this forum. Some people in that section of the forum will have gone through what you're going through now - and should be able to provide you with specific instructions.

This section of the forum is for Canadian citzens and PRs who are sponsoring family members.

Scylla is right. DO NOT LAND WITHOUT TELLING CIC YOU ARE NOW MARRIED. Yes, adding her to your application now will delay things, and they may ask why you didn`t declare her before, but if you do not add her to your application before you land in Canada, you will never be able to sponsor her, and you might lose your own PR.

Thank you - I have now posted the question under skilled worker ...

I know it will delay the process but are there chances that they might reject my PR

Thanks a lot for your time and response

I live in toronto but my spousal file was transferred to vancouver for further assessment . I got AIP In vegreville but no DM. What's the next step in Vancouver.

scylla,

I just checked that I actually did declare my martial staus and spouse information when they asked me during second stage On 1st August 2012 I received a letter from them demanding additional documents such as : New application form IMM0008/ background declaration form/ form IMM5406/medical examination and PR FEES - In these forms I declared all the information about my wife (I just checked the saved forms - sorry for the earlier post)

Now they have asked me to submit the passport...but in the whole process they did not ask for my wife medical or criminal check is it normal ? should I be worried ? or is because I have applied only for my visa not for my wifes right now?

Please let me know ...thanks a ton for your time

Thanks

You say they asked for her medical in August 2012. Did she get a medical then?

May be because I have declared her but not added her in my application..

I am really confused now, They know I am married and on dependent visa in UK as I mentioned her details in the form on second stage. But Still they have not asked for any of her documents and asking me submit the passport.

does spouse go under medical and security checks even if she is not added to the application - as I Have declared that I am married but I am not sponsoring her visa right now??

Please help :( :(

Yes - your wife has to under go the medical and security check even if she is not accompanying you to Canada right now.

To add you wife to the file, you need to submit the additional forms required to add her. Did you do this? What forms did you submit for your wife to add her to your file?
