Hi, I received my PR card.. And now I want to change my last name... Is this possible now or not. Pls help. Thanks

yes,
and as a matter of fact this is the moment to do it...

You need to call or visit any Immigration office,
I think that the fee is 50 dollars...

My wife will do it as soon she receives hers...

good luck....

Does the name change have to be reported to the embassy of the birth country of the PR as well, such as the Philippines in order to be able to change the passport.

I have been wondering this myself.

Just a bump to see if anyone can answer the question above..
Thanks

i assume if your wife wants to change her name legally and travel as a canadian PR, she will need to change her name in her passport too. The PR card and passport need to match. When you change your name in the passport, your home country will know because the passport will now have the new legal name and it's registered in the country's system. it's not necessary to send them a note to say you are changing your name. it's not even necessary to use your legal name in everyday dealings. A person can have 1 legal name and use a second for daily life.
perhaps it's country specific?

1.File for ROM (Report of Marriage) to your nearest Philippine Consulate
http://www.philcongen-toronto.com/consular/consular_report.php

2. Renew/change name on passport , you need the the ROM to reflect your married name on new passport.

3. Now you can change your PR card to your married name .
Pasport and PR card has to match for travels .
