Hi All,

I have been through this process before over a decade ago so I know in general what to go through but things change and now I am sponsoring a new spouse from a different country and I have a few last minute questions before sending off the application.

The first few are about "Not Applicable" answers. In essence I am wondering if I can represent my spouse by making minor additions to her forms.

1. If a form is validated and didn't warn us about missing information is it OK to not type Not Applicable in every available blank place to various questions? Can I still write in some not applicables?

2. IMM3903 Document Checklist - Immigrant. My wife left blank the document checkboxes if they did not apply to her so she was not including those documents. To prove that we know we didn't overlook these sections should I write Not Applicable beside all those sections?

3. IMM0008 General Application. My wife has only one citizenship so she left blank the place where it offered the chance to enter a second citizenship. Should I write Not Applicable there?

4. IMM5669 Schedule A Background Declaration.

(a) Her parents are not deceased so where it asks for date if deceased she left it blank but should I still write Not Applicable beside the blank dates?

(b) My wife emailed me a new page 2 as she wanted to change the name of her company to the more official registered name but my paper is a different size and shade of white and my printer ink is a darker black so it might be a red flag. Is it reasonable to keep the original page and add another page where she explains the alternate and better name for her company?

I hope to send off the application in the week of Victoria Day without waiting for another courier from her country for small changes like 4(b) but I don't want to delay a decision for 2 months because of doing things the wrong way in these small things.

If the forms have been validated do not change them . Attach the check list and there you can write N/A .It won't matter that the forms are different colour of whites.

some of the forms you can reprint just 1 page and retype leave the back page with her signature on it as original.

Good luck with your application.

I agree with taffy. Don't change any forms that have been validated.

You can hand-write in N/A under anything that is actually N/A instead of leaving it blank. You should DEFINITELY do this on the checklist, no question about that, then it's obvious that the form is actually N/A as opposed to being omitted. We wrote N/A in spaces that didn't apply like the second citizenship and parents' date of death and so on.

And yeah, don't worry about the different whites - we found a few typos when we were finalizing our application and re-printed just individual pages on different printers, it really doesn't matter.

(And if CIC did want to raise up a flag about it, they'd talk to you about it first, they wouldn't just up and cancel your app because one page was printed on a different printer! :p )

Thank you. I will represent my wife by adding written N/A on her forms.

I'll put in my Hong Kong timeline once I have a timeline to officially start and I am eligible to show under my name.
