Last day of submission for FSW14

Just want to share;

Last day of submission of application will be DEC. 31, 2014

From my understanding,

" applications will be considered for processing for the period of May 1, 2014, until April 30, 2015, unless otherwise indicated in a future Ministerial Instruction ". -this is taken from CIC bulletin board

YES, indeed the program will last until April 30, 2015 for "processing". This is different from "submission".

Processing will start "after CIC received your application until receiving your PER (Positive Eligibility Review)".

Global trend PER received is 4months by average. So, if the cut-off date of submission of application is December 2014, expected date of releasing the PER will be April 2015.

So, for easy understanding..

FSW 2014 Submission cut off date- May 1, 2014 to Dec 31, 2014
FSW 2014 Processing cut off date - Apr. 30, 2015

You have to consider the length of time to receive PER which I think is the missing point why everybody thinks that the last day of submission is April 30, 2015.

CIC will never launch Express entry while having FSW program.

Good observation...but CIC should give a more clear-cut announcement regarding this like: "The last date of FSW14 app submission is xx.xx.xxxx"

Two reasons why I think your logic is flawed.

1) If they meant what you are saying then it should read: "applications will be processed upto April 30, 2015" and not "applications will be [size=10pt]considered[/size] for processing upto April 30, 2015." Not reading too much between the lines, it's more likely that they simply mean applications received upto April 30 will be considered for processing.

2) Historically, CIC doesn't stop processing old applications simply because new program has started. Their processing times can go for years, so they keep processing old applications even after they start accepting new applications for new programs. If what you said were to be true, then that would mean that the old applications they couldn't process within April 30 deadline will simply be returned because they ran out of time. This is very uncharacteristic of CIC.

So unless they explicitly announce that they won't be accepting any more applications beyond Dec 2014, there is no reason to think so.

That's for the interpretation of CIC's statement. Despite that, there is reason to think that the submission deadline for current FSW will be December 30. Reasons:

1) The above gazette says that the deadline is April 30 unless otherwise published in a future gazette, which means they can change the deadline any time.

2) The above gazette was published BEFORE the current FSW program went into effect and BEFORE they announced that the express entry will begin in Jan 2015.

But, there is also the possibility that CIC will not be ready for express entry in Jan 2015 despite their announcement. If this happens, then the current program will obviously be extended until April.

Lastly, it is still possible that CIC will accept both programs simultaneously. This would also make sense if you think about it. Because of the nature of express entry, the initial steps won't be too much of a burden to CIC. Since the initial steps will be driven by employers/provinces nominating applicants once they put their information in their online profile, CIC will not have to actually "process" anything except send out invitations to eligible applicants, which should be fairly automated since no physical examination of paperwork and evidence is done at this step. So, the old FSW applications CAN be processed during this downtime for express entry.

To me, all of these possibilities seem equally probable. So we will just have to wait for CIC to make announcements to be sure what their plan is.

Hi!
I'm applying as FSW-PhD stream and sent My application at the very last minute! It was received by the CIC office 30/12/2014!
What do you think? The cap is 500 and up to mid Nov it showed only 225/500 applications received. What do you think are my chances? Any thoughts?
