Which bank are you getting the GIC from? CIBC does RTGS, since this coming Saturday is a working Saturday, you can do so, but CIBC will not process it as they don't work on Saturdays. Other banks(Scotia, ICICI, SBI, HSBC) do a wire transfer, you will have to ask your local bank if they will accept the wire transfer on Saturdays. Even if they do, they won't process the payment on the weekend since most of the banks do not operate on weekends( Sat and Sun).

They won't be open on Saturday's, at least their head offices might not be open. They only accept queries from Monday to Friday, so I don't think they will be processing the GIC. In any case your wire transfer would start, but you should expect 5 working days for Scotia bank to receive the amount, and another 5 working days to process the GIC.

but few of my frnds got confirmation mail on 6th day after payment, is 10 days approx max time?
