If I buy a laptop in India, does that work in Canada?

A friend of mine had told me they wont, so confused !!!

u will need a pin converter and/or a step down transformer if ur charger does not take 110V. There is a voltage difference between india and canada and also sockets r different. u can get a converter and transformer together in india for 200rs-500Rs roughly. just socket converter is much cheaper.

No issues with voltage as all laptop adapter/chargers work under voltage ratings of 100-280V. Get socket adapter from a dollar store.

The other alternative, depending on the supply socket on your laptop's power supply is, is to get a replacement cable complete with moulded North American plug on it. You can then use the correct cable for whichever country you are in. It's more expensive but it is a cleaner solution than having adapters. Canada is Cheaper if we compare to India In Canada you will get a good laptop starting from $500 .... And if you can spare $1000 then you can get very good deals

i just saw HP envy laptop at store in canada today, $800 i7(quad core) 8gb ram, gt740m, etc.. pretty nice.

I gt a hp laptop i5, 1tb hd and 8gb ram for 499 from costco..

For people who are getting laptop in canada please check d price of the same laptop in different stores before buying one because the laptop which I got was 699 in other stores

HI,

Indian laptops works fine in canada as the power rating of laptop adapter is from 110v to 220 v...make sure to get a pin converter from your home country. you can buy them from ebay at very cheap rate.

as long as the adapter of your laptop is 110v-240v , it will work. look at the back of the adapter, written there is the volts, etc..
