Language tests

Hi everyone, just about to start the process of applying for immigration under the Canadian Experience Class. We have been visiting forces over here for 2 years now and are looking at leaving the forces and settling here in a years time. Since we have been here we have had a new baby in addition to our 11 year old son.

A couple of questions though...

Would the fact that we have had a baby since we have been here have any effect on the process?

Who would have to do the language tests for immigration? Is it just me? Is it my wife and me or would our 11 year old need to do one too?

I'm sure I'll have many many more questions as things progress, but this will do for starters, would like to get the tests booked soon...

1. Were you here under the visiting forces Act, if so you weren't issued a work permit were you? To apply for CEC you do require a 12 months of skilled work under a work permit.
2. Only the principal applicant requires IELTs/CELPIP under CEC.
3. The child has no bearing on your application.

Thanks for your reply.
I was thinking that having looked at all the information on the website, but I know there are people who have successfully and are in the process of applying under this scheme. We did receive some legal advice stating that this may be the best scheme for us to apply under, but I agree it seems that the website seems to state the contrary...
