I am undergoing the skilled worker immigration process. I have sent my degree certificate to be assessed, adn the next stage appears to be booking an English language test at an approved test centre.
There are plenty of centres quite close to where I live, with tests costing around £140.

The question is, do I really need to do an english language test if I have lived in the UK all my life, went to school and got O levels in English and English Literature, did A Levels and eventually completed a university degree at an English university?

As far as I can tell, passing the tests will give me the points I need to immigrate, without the english points, I would not have enough points.

I can understand they have to rate everyone in an equal way, but it just feels like I am paying £140 to gain the points. Am I missing something?

1. NO, you don't have to take IELTs, but your application would then be refused. Because under the previous regulations if you could prove that you schooling was in an English program, you didn't have to take a language test. The funny thing was that a large enough sample of these applicants when interviewed, couldn't carry a conversation in English.

What PMM said. No English language test results = an automatic refusal of your application. Where you are from is immaterial.
