Hi all,

Anyone who just land at border without a US visa?

Can we do that now? I searched online and found a thread in Feb 2014 saying that the rule has been changed and we can't land without a US visa anymore.

Any input will be valuable.

Thanks guys.

It's called flag poling and is relatively common.

Tell the US that's what you're doing for your visa/PR and they will give you a notice and you can go back to Canadian immigration. You shouldn't have any problems.

What arowberry said is correct. As long as you are going to a land border you won't have any issues, just turn up, tell them you are changing your status in Canada, they will fill in a form saying you have been refused entry for admin reasons (it's called a flagpole) and you're good to go back to Canada and do your landing. The 'refused entry' piece of paper looks a little scary at first, but it's totally fine, it won't have any effect on you visiting the US in the future, and you don't need to tell them that you were refused entry or anything as it's just for admin reasons.
