Hi all
I am planning to go for the landing today. My US visa has expired so I am thinking about going to the rainbow bridge. Does anyone who has landed already at niagara has any last minute suggestions on what procedure to follow and what should be the next step after finishing the landing procedure.
I know we are supposed to get our social insurance and health card renewed as a permanent resident

Any other useful tips ?

Thank you all in advance and good luck to the rest who is still waiting

Nope that's it. Just make sure you go to the American side and get the refused administration slip. Making a U-turn will most probably waste your time. Also I thought Rainbow Bridge was in BC haha. I didn't know there were two bridges in Niagara that you could cross over. Other than that, make sure you have like 5 dollars. I didn't know you have to pay to get back into Canada, and had to reverse and go to the booth that accepts credit cards.

I've been down that way a few times, and most of the times our final destination is Buffalo so we use the Peace Bridge. It's a much bigger crossing than the Rainbow Bridge in terms of available gates and officers, at least on the American side.

So I finally landed successfully at rainbow bridge this afternoon
I went to rainbow bridge around 1:30 pm
I walked to the US side and the officer asked me the reason for travel
I said I am here got flag pole and he just gave me the white admin refusal slip
He said to the other officer working there - what's wrong with the Canadian people these days. Most of them are here for flag pole and not visiting us anymore and laughed
He gave me the slip and said I can walk back to the Canadian side
Officer on Canadian side was a bit rude and said why m I here and I replied that I am here to
Complete my landing
He said go inside the building and show the yellow slip
The officer in the building asked me to wait because there were atleast 10 people ahead of me to complete Landing already
I had to wait for almost 40 minutes and then officer called me and took a address proof and gave me the docs
So overall i was done within one and half hour with no
Problem

Yeah american officers were good
however, I saw this mean VO lying in front of me.. He was working on my file to complete the landing process and I saw a group of four people coming in enquiring about the landing process. He had my COPR in his hand and he lied to them that they have to go to cic office
and can't do landing here

Hi ,

Was you fingerprints taken at us border office while landing?
I completed my landing 2 days ago at Rainbow Bridge..They do not take any fingerprints..They will simply give you the administrative refusal and that's it

Does that matter if you are from visa exempt country or not. I have been fingerprinted in canada that resulted in non conviction. I dnt have any criminal record. But my lawyer advised me to not to go to usa before he finish his paperwork. I dnt wana make a bad situation there if they fingerprint and my non conviction( which is not a criminal record) shows up. So if they dnt do fingerprint, will b totally ok.

Today I became a permanent resident at Rainbow Bridge.
I walked through the bridge and went directly to the USA side and asked for flagpole.
It took an hour to get the white paper and then return to the Canada side.
Surprisingly, nobody asked for the refusal form from USA entry point!!!???
So I think if you go to Rainbow bridge, you just need to pass the Canada gate and then immediately return from another door and say that you are there for landing.
Just show your passport. I believe they don't care if you had crossed the bridge and met the US side or not.
So, do not waste your time at USA side.

Best luck for everyone,
Henaras

No offence but, I don't think your idea would be ideal :) you were just lucky or the officer was so tired or new that he just forgot to ask. we all need to go across the boarder and complete the landing when the way back. Let's follow the procedure :) What you said could cause problems to other future applicants.

I agree with the above, follow the procedures, you must cross over to the us side and get your administrative refusal slip!!!
