Landing options for those who are in Canada already?

What are the cost effective options to land those who are already residing in Canada?
I do not want to go back to my home country and return for this purpose only.
Should I contact the nearest USA border checkpoint?

In some cases you may be able to land at your local CIC office without having to even leave Canada. Otherwise you can drive to the border to land.

Or other Canada government service offices?

They have local offices around where they do citizenship tests, you can pick up renewed PR cards and stuff like that.
