Hey people,

I know this has been asked multiple times and I went through all posts related to this particular matter. However, I still have some questions regarding it:

a. As I can't get a direct one-way flight to Montreal anyway, I'll go through and land in Toronto first, then transit to Montreal. Would it be a problem? Will the officers look at my ticket and deny my entry? Would it be better to buy a ticket for Toronto first, and then get one for Montreal after landing?

b. Does this affect the SIN number? I read that ppl fill in papers at the airport for SIN so it won't be a problem.

Thanks for the information!

MM

If so many people have asked this, and so many people have told those so many people that this is perfectly fine you will just do your landing in Toronto and then go to Montreal, why is your question different?

The CBSA officer will not deny you entry because you have a connecting flight to Montreal.

Why would you buy a flight to Montreal after you land in Toronto? You're looking at paying 500% more for the ticket to do it that way.

Just make sure your stopover has enough time - budget 3-4 hour stopover, not 90 minutes.

You could even buy two tickets now to ensure the stopover, though you'd have to collect your bags and re-check them.

But you could land in Toronto and then go on to Whitehorse for all CBSA cares. It's fine. You will land in Toronto.

Thank you so much for your reply. I was posting this because I haven't seen any thread mentioning a connecting flight or something alike. I hope it's not a problem.

Your information is very much appreciated!

CBSA Officer doesn't even need to know you have a connecting flight. He probably will know with tools at his disposal. You could go to moon for all he/she cares after you complete landing.

Forgot to ask: Will the record of residence in Quebec affect my citizenship application? Is it recommended that I move out of QC after the 1-year rental?
