Dear All,
I've been visiting this forum for a wee while and found loads of very useful information
However, I would like to get more opinion on a particular subject again and would be very grateful if some people could share their opinion and experience
Basically, I am a French national who lived in the UK for 11 years and I did all my application from the UK for the CSQ
The process was quite quick, just took 14 months (to get my visa) and that was including a six months wait before I decided to send my federal application
Here's my application's timeline:
CSQ application office Paris
Federal application office London
CSQ application: September 2009
CSQ interview & certificate given: February 2010
Federal application sent August 2010
Medical visit: September 2010
Passport request: October 2010
Visa received: November 2010
Anyway, I've been on long holiday in Shanghai, China for the past four months and I met different people and I was offered a 10 months work contract starting at the end of this month.
Now, I am going to Montreal in 10 days to do my landing (I need to go back to China after and apply for my temporary work visa for China)
and I am anxious as wondering if I should tell straight away that I am coming for 7 days only (yes I know it's short but I could only get that amount of time as I am starting the new job in Shanghai soon) and that I will return in 10 months time to live permanently in Montreal. Or if I should just keep quiet until I am asked if I am staying here straight away or not.
I guess they will ask me what I was doing as on opposite my Canadian immigration visa page on my passport, I have a one month tourist visa extension for China
I know that if I'm being asked, I would say that this is a great temporary work opportunity where I would have loads of experience that I could bring with me to Canada once I move permanently there
I am just super superstitious and paranoid and I am just freaking out that if I tell them that I am staying in China for another 10 months they won't give me my PR card application and refuse to finalise my immigration process
So, here are my questions please if you could help
1. Should I be clear from the beginning or just keep quiet that I'm not moving there straight but will be back next year
2. According to other posts I have found so far, one week should be ok to do my PR card application (as it's done at the airport), my SIN card and open a bank account, is that correct?
3. I will give my cousin's address who also lives in Montreal and she'll bring me my card next time I see her, but if in case I need to go back to Canada in the meantime I would need to drive there as I can't fly without my PR card, is that correct?
4. I read on the forum that you need to download, complete & give some forms once you arrive, does anyone of you have a link for those? I had a look on the CIC website and can't find a working page with those
Many thanks in advance if you can help
