Hi

I along with my parents are sponsered. We are landing in Canada for around two months until we get our PRCards. My question is what should we answer to immigration officer if he asks about our move to Canada? as we wont be moving this time permanently. And can we delay our immigration time such that when we land next time (not this time) our period of five years start from there.

Thanks

your period of 5 years will start from when you land ... it cannot be changed. the documents that the immigration officer will send to have your PR will show the date that you landed, and that is the begining of the 5 years. that being said, when you apply to renew they only look at the 5 years preceeding the application date. read some of the other threads regarding PR renewal in this forum of other members.

make sure you fill in your b4 and b4a forms correctly. if any item you bring during your permanent form is not listed on the b4/b4a forms when you initially land, you will have to pay customs on it. items are exempt if you bring them with you when you first land, or declare them on the form as items you plan to bring later on.

Your COPR/Visa will have a date that it expires. I believe you can land anytime up to that expiry date. If you are not from a Visa-exempt country you will need to another valid (visitor) visa if you do not want to present your landing documents. And I don't know if getting a visitor visa is even possible if you have been approved for PR.

if you are not visa exempt, don't think you can get another visa on top of that ... since with your COPR you will be given a single-entry visa. i dont think CHC would issue two valid visa's on the same passport at the same time.

to keep your PR you need to stay in canada for 2 years out of 5. so as long as you are not out of the country for more than 3 years, you are fine.
