I have a question regarding this.
I am far from the landing requirement but I want to plan ahead.
I have a common-law partner that will not be coming with me to Canada (but the goal is obviously that he will, eventually). He needs to undergo the medical exam and everything.

Is he also required to do the "landing" with me upon me receiving my PR?

No, he can come later, but still before the expiry of his entry permit.

Thanks for your response. You mean, before the expiry of his medical (e.g. One year upon completion of medicals)?

Hello guys,

On receiving the PR, can just the Principal Applicant complete the landing and activate PR on behalf of all applicants (3 in my case).
Or is it mandatory for all the applicants (dependents as well) to visit Canada before COPR expiry?

Regards,
Aditya

Yes, technically it is the expiry date, which is printed on your entry VISA. It's same as medical+one year.

Thank you. Worst case scenario, what happens if he cannot make it within that time limit?

If you don't enter by the date specified on the COPR then you forfeit your PR and will have to reapply and start from zero. You'll have to pay all the fees again as well.

Harsh. This is what I found on cic website: "Your medical exam results are valid for 12 months only. If you do not come to Canada as a permanent resident within that time, you may need to have another exam."
