There is no receipt for 1st PR card. Once your COPR is signed and stamped, that's good enough proof.

You can call IRCC Call Centre +1-888-242-2100 to check if correct address is recorded or not.

Get any sim for $10. Then put credit in it. Go for 'Pay As You Go'

my wife and kids landed on 3rd may at toronto airport. the immigration officer took the copr and returened it after entry that is all there were no applications given for permanent resident card at the airport , my wife and kids got out of the airport smoothly later they went to service canada office to apply for permananent resident card , the staff their told them to go visit internet cic website and apply for cards online . now there is a confusion here when we visited the website it tells to fill forms submit required documents and a fee of 50 dollar each and mail it to a address given there my question do they really have to go through this process or the cards for freshly landed are sent automaticaaly to their address mentioned to the immigration officer at the airport kindly clarify for all those who have recently landed what is the procedure to get the pr cards now waiting anxiously for your expert answer thanks

well, if you go to service Canada and specifically ask them that you want to apply for PR card, then they will obviously redirect you to CIC.
You have no right to call someone dumb when you have not done your homework.
For newly landed immigrants, PR card is free and comes automatically. There is no separate application required.
The information is pretty clearly mentioned on the CIC webpage.

Please do more research next time before blaming people.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/pr-card/apply-how.asp

If you are immigrating to Canada, you do not need to apply for a permanent resident card (PR card). We will mail your card to you after you get to Canada.
If you did not provide your Canadian mailing address when you became a permanent resident, you must send us your Canadian address using our online tool within 180 days of becoming a permanent resident.

A counter argument can also be made against you that you (or/and your wife) weren't "intelligent" enough to do your homework properly before started to accuse others of being dumb.

First rule of getting help ... Be Polite and Respectful!

After all, staff at Service Canada are only humans at the end of the day. If you go to them and say that you want to apply for PR card, they will assist you with every possible way. However, they do not handle PR card application requests.

Contact Service Canada

For your Permanent Resident related query, I suggest you contact IRCC Contact Centre and request for 1st hand information

@XpressEnterprise is this true? :(
In simple words, if you don't have PR Card and you are a permanent resident, following situation would be applicable

BY COMMERCIAL CARRIERS (such as plane, ship, bus, etc)
You cannot enter Canada without PR Card or PRTD. No carrier will let you board their vehicle without PR card or valid travel document.

BY PRIVATE VEHICLE (such as by foot, car, private plane, private ship, etc)
You can enter canada by using COPR (stamped and signed) along with your valid passport (via US Canada border, providing you have valid US visa or you are from visa waiver country)

It's advisable to stay in Canada till you receive your 1st PR card, however you will not be stopped at border if you are leaving Canada.

[P.S. the post you shared is not explaining relative to the situation. In your past, the term 'travel document' term is used to refer COPR. First of all, COPR is not a travel document (it's clearly mentioned on it). However, if you are using private vehicle or your very own feet to enter Canada, CBSA officer can verify your PR status by looking at credentials on COPR. Many people have done so.]

COPR and Passport are the main documents you will be needing at border. If you are bringing stuff upon landing, then make sure your Goods to Bring and Goods to Follow forms are filled correctly. Declare anything if you are bringing any form of currency if it's equivalent is CAD10,000 or more.

My wife is already in Canada on Visitor Visa and got her Passport request today.

Once we receive her stamped passport from Ottawa, can we go to a local office for her landing formalities or would we need to go on a border crossing only?

If we have to go to the Niagara Falls border crossing, can I (Applicant's spouse who is already a PR) accompany my wife during the flag-poling process?

Anyone who has either got their landing formality done within a local office or flag-poling at the border, kindly share your experiences.

Cheers!

You can book an appointment at your nearest office.

Or else your wife can do flag polling as well. However, not so sure if accompanying her to US side would be a good idea.
If you have US Visa then you should be fine.
