Hi mates,

I have query. I am flying on 7th of May to Calgary with my wife and kid just for a week to complete our landing process and will return to UK afterwards.

As I don’t have any relative in Alberta. Is it OK to give Saskatoon address (where my sister lives) for the delivery of our PR card at the airport.

Or would Immigration officer at Calgary airport raises a concern as I supposed to live in Alberta and why am I giving address of another province i.e. Saskatchewan?

Much appreciated.

Your dependents do their landing on their own, you don't have to be present; you must land first.

Things you should be aware of during your landing

Photos for your Permanent Resident card (PR card)
You will only be asked to take a new photo at the airport if your attached photo does not meet the requirements.

Dependant
You need to inform CBSA if your dependant who is on your Immigration file does not come with you at the same time.

The Principal Applicant (PA) must land first or together with the accompanying family members. If the PA did land alone, the dependents can land at any date at any Canada border before the expiry date of their visa.

Wait Time
There is often a long wait for the landing procedures in Vancouver, which can take up to four hours in total. Newcomers destined to another city in Canada are reminded to ensure that your transit time is sufficient.

Food & Beverage
There is no food available inside the customs and immigration area. However, drinks and light snacks are available for purchase through vending machines. You can use Canadian coins or credit card to purchase these products. Currency exchange service is also available inside the arrival hall.

Lost Luggage
If you are unable to locate your checked baggage upon arrival, you'll need to notify a representative of the airline with which your flight terminates. The agent will ask you to provide your contact information as well as a detailed description of your baggage in order to prepare a baggage claim report. You will then receive:

- A delayed baggage card (which explains the baggage recovery process) and

- A File Reference Number made up of five letters and five numbers that you'll use to check the status of your delayed baggage.

Courtesy Phone Service
There are public phone booths in the international arrival area. If you want to make a short local telephone call, you can approach the YVR Information Desk at the end of Carousel 23 and ask for assistance. YVR information service staff will provide courtesy phone service for you.

Hello Guys

Im leaving for canada in early May. What is the minimum proof of funds requirement at present (for 1 person)? Is it $12,164?

Secondly, if Im carrying this much cash, would it be a problem while leaving my home country? Apparently travelling with more than $10K cash is illegal while travelling from Pakistan

Thanks

To all those who are planning for a short landing.

Recently a family from Pakistan came to Calgary for short landing, When they were going back immigration officer specifically told them this is not a good idea, If you have any emergency you should tell Immigration properly that you are leaving country and they will stop PR cards and will allow you to leave. But the family was so confident that nothing happens, our friend will later on mail our PR card and we will be good to come back.

But after two weeks their relative told them that he had a letter from CIC and CIC want them to resend their pictures, Stamped by the photographer and with the details.

Now how they can take picture and stamped from canadian photoshop and resend it in three days to CIC?

Moral of the story wait till you get your PR card.

There are just few ups and downs of story now they can't enter without PR card So situation for them is tense and critical too.

Let me make this very clear .... If I were in your position, I would NEVER EVER risk my immigration just because I may have a little bit of inconvenience. You will not get a second chance if you screw this over.

Now, coming to your question, you need to show more than CA$18,617/- and it does state on their website that cheques are accepted, as long as it guarantees payment of a set amount of money which is payable to you.

True

One should wait till you get your PR card, otherwise it would become difficult if they request something.

your PR cannot be revoked because u did short landing. there is no issue with this.the family should deal with d canadian embassy in their country and get travelling document to re-enter canada or get US visa and enter canada by land from usa. canadians are nice folks.....no need for d panic

Hi,

I am planning to land alone in couple of weeks time. My family will join me 2-3 months later. I am not shipping any items from home country to CAN. However, my wife will be carrying some jewellery with her. My question is:-

1) Do i need to declare the jewellery in the form B4A_GTF ?
2) I will be carrying clothes, some utensils, food items, few small electronic items, laptop etc. What and all do i need to declare in my B4 form?

Appreciate your help.

This topic has been covered multiple times.
Read this : http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/landing-in-canada-all-you-need-to-know-t36735.0.html;msg4282243#msg4282243a

1) Jewelry must be declared with photos and approx CAD value (either on B4A form or excel sheet. Upto you)
2) If you're bringing 20 shirts, write 'Shirts' and put quantity as 20, and write collective value of all shirts in CAD. It's always better to declare everything. There is no 'negative' marking if you have written anything extra.
